About Us

TeacherGimbel Corporation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit created to provide a space for teachers’ concerns to be elevated and addressed.

TeacherGimbel Corp uses statistical and surveying methods to gather accurate snapshots of K-12 teachers’ views and opinions on everything from classroom practices, policy, district initiatives, and more. Meet the Team

  • Leah Gimbel

    FOUNDER, PRESIDENT

Leah Gimbel founded TeacherGimbel after seven years of teaching in DC Public schools. As a teacher she frequently found herself silenced when she voiced concerns or worries about her classes, students, or school practices. She realized the need for a new organization after trying to work with the local unions to no avail. She now works for TeacherGimbel full time creating a space for teachers’ voices that she never had.

Gimbel holds a BA in Mathematics from the University of Chicago, and a MS in Administration and Supervision from Johns Hopkins School of Education. Prior to opening TeacherGimbel Corporation, Gimbel taught secondary mathematics and served as Teacher Leader for DCPS running the math department, supporting administration, and working for DCPS Central Office Department of Secondary Mathematics creating content and training math teachers across the district.
